Following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Ebbsfleet United, the Coasters have taken four points from Chris Beech’s two National League games in charge, the director of football naming the same starting line-up for both.

After a minute’s silence for Manchester United and England legend Sir Bobby Charlton, Fylde started brightly against Micky Mellon’s in-form Latics.

Ustabasi’s header from a Nick Haughton cross was glanced straight at goalkeeper Matt Hudson and Kay hit a rising shot just over.

The Coasters were in front on 11 minutes, when Ustabasi drove into the box from the right and shot powerfully into the bottom left corner.

Two minutes later, Fylde doubled their lead. Connor Barrett fizzed in a cross from the right and Kay took a touch at the back-post before arrowing his shot home.

Kay was denied a second when the ball clipped a post and was cleared off the line by Shaun Hobson.

Latics were reduced to 10 men on 39 minutes, when captain Liam Hogan received a second yellow card for bringing down Luke Charman.

It could have been even better for Fylde but keeper Matthew Hudson saved from Haughton and Nelson Khumbeni before the interval.

Oldham began the second period with determination but Ustabasi turned defence into attack, forcing Hudson into the first of a series of saves.

The visitors went close with 20 minutes left, when Make Shelton seized on Sam Graham’s loose pass but shot just wide.

Fylde had the final say in stoppage time, Ustabasi netting his second with a thumping shot into the top left corner from outside the box.

The win lifts the Coasters off the bottom, moving above Maidenhead on goals scored, ahead of Saturday’s visit to Gateshead.
