For the second straight week, our Blue Federal Credit Union Athlete of the Week comes from Timnath!
Timnath boys soccer player Seb Chavarria took top honors in the Fort Collins area for Sept. 24-30 thanks to his three-goal hat trick, scoring all of the Cubs’ goals in a 3-1 win over Weld Central.
It was the latest in a breakout run for the sophomore.
He had scored just one goal in his first 17 career matches but has scored seven goals in the past three matches, with multiple goals in each.
Chavarria has also helped Timnath start strong this season with a 7-1 record and top-10 spot in CHSAA’s Class 3A seeding index.
He won the Blue Federal Credit Union fan poll with 55.9% of the 32,451 votes cast.
That beat out other fantastic performances from his fellow nominees:
Danika Huff, Fort Collins softball (runner-up with 36.3%)
Cash Altschwager, Wellington football
Carson Holly, Rocky Mountain boys soccer
Isabel Allori, Liberty Common girls cross country
The Blue Federal Credit Union Athlete of the Week series features five nominees every Monday, with voting at Coloradoan.com until 11 p.m. Wednesday and the winner named on Thursday.
Fans can nominate their favorite athletes (deadline: 11:59 p.m. every Saturday) and the Coloradoan Sports staff will ultimately select the five nominees each week.
