Pep Guardiola
Former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha believes Pep Guardiola’s side “will get better” after ending a four game winless run with a 2-1 victory at Luton Town on Sunday.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast: “When you look at City in the first part of the season, I think it’s worth asking yourself, ‘when push comes to shove in the second part of the season, is this going to be their best team?’
“I’m not 100% sure. With Kevin de Bruyne to come back in, [Erling] Haaland obviously to return, [John] Stones, [Jeremy] Doku – is this the best they can offer? I don’t think it is.
“They’ve done well to show glimpses. They concede goals but they don’t concede a ton of chances. I think, as a consequence, there is a foundation there. With the players returning, I think they will get better.
“This isn’t their final form and the fact they’re in the mix is what’s dangerous. It’s been a crisis from the outside because we expect them to win all the time, but they know it’s a long old season and they’ve got plenty more to come.”
