Aston Villa have a hot property on their hands in England Under-21 midfielder Jacob Ramsey and have no intention of parting with him before the close of the January transfer window.
Ramsey, 22, has been linked with Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, but Villa’s stance is that he will be going nowhere – a position made clear by manager Unai Emery.
Emery is a big admirer of Ramsey, an academy graduate who has come through the ranks. The youngster is also hugely popular with Aston Villa’s fanbase because of his status as a local boy who has excelled in the first team.
Emery said: “In the second part of the season he is going to be very, very important to us. His potential is very high, an even higher level than my expectations.”
Things can change quickly as the clock ticks down to the close of the transfer window, but Villa are in no mood to sell a player who can help them achieve their ambitions of a place in the Premier League’s top four and a piece of silverware this season.
