Seven members of Lady Guard soccer team pick up all-state accolades


Mar. 23—BULLARD — Brook Hill Lady Guard Soccer saw seven squad members named to the Texas Association of Private and Parochial School Division III All-State team.

First team choices included Ife Abegunde, Hadleigh Clark, Caroline Smith and Caley Fitzgerald.

Scarlett Kerr, Ari Rivas and Drea Tonroy were lauded with second team plaudits.

A bevy of representatives from Brook Hill garnered All-Division III, District 2 awards earlier this month.

District superlative honors went to Smith (District Most Valuable Player); Clark (Offensive Player of the Year); Fitzgerald (Defensive Player of the Year); Kerr (Freshman of the Year) and Rodrigo Rocha (Coach of the Year).

First team choices included Abegunde, goal keeper; offensive standouts Clark and Kerr; midfielders Smith and Rivas and defenders Fitzgerald, Tonroy and Taylor McClure.

Second team picks from the offensive side were Riley-Jane McCord and Kerrigan Rozelle; midfielder Amaruchi Opara and defender Anne Savage.

Liclia Morocilla came away with honorable mention honors.

After going undefeated in district, the Lady Guard advanced all the way to the state tournament.
