After another fun week of the high school soccer season, it’s time to look back on the best performances.

Read about the players who stood out last week and let us know who you think should be the North Jersey Player of the Week in the poll at the bottom of this page.

Voting closes at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Salvatore Catanzaro

Wood-Ridge senior

The Blue Devils forward led his team to three straight victories by scoring seven goals and an assist on the week. After burying the overtime winner against Hasbrouck Heights, Catanzaro followed it up with back-to-back hat tricks.

Alex Fiedoruk

Clifton senior

The Mustangs forward stepped up last week with four goals and an assist over two victories. He picked up his first career hat trick on Saturday to help Clifton turn the tables on Kennedy in a rematch of last year’s Passaic County final.

Sebastian Ortega

Bergen Catholic senior

Ortega was on the money last week when the Crusaders rolled past St. Joseph and Northern Highlands. He accounted for seven goals and one assist in those matches.

Gamaliel Perde

Hawthorne Christian junior

Perde rose to the challenge with a pair of shutouts after filling in for the team’s injured starter. He made seven saves in a 1-0 win over Hawthorne and four stops in a 3-0 victory over Saddle River Day.

Amanda Cicero

Park Ridge senior

Cicero got off on the right foot in her fourth year in the starting lineup. The Owls forward accounted for three goals and three assists in road wins over Emerson and Cresskill.

Sophia Lara

Hasbrouck Heights senior

Lara continues to be a scoring machine after finishing in the top 10 in North Jersey in goals a year ago. She buried six shots last week and tacked on an assist to push the Aviators past all three opponents.

Sarah Gomez

Dwight Morrow junior

Gomez turned in an outstanding week in the midfield, either scoring or setting up the winner in all three matches. She had seven goals and eight assists for the Maroon Raiders.

Ava Merlino

Paramus senior

The Spartans forward carried the offense on Tuesday with four goals in an 8-1 divisional win over Hackensack. Merlino fired in another goal on Friday when her team knocked off Union.
