Chelsea FC 5 – 0 Everton FC

Chelsea vs Everton

21:39

Everton are enjoying another good spell of possession now, but they can’t get into the Chelsea box. It’s switched out to Harrison on the left, but his first-time cross is blocked by Gusto.

Chelsea vs Everton

21:36

SAVE! Jackson does brilliantly to skip away from three Everton challenges before unselfishly poking it out to Mudryk on the left. He can’t get hold of the shot though, tamely hitting it straight at Pickford.

Chelsea vs Everton

21:34

Substitution Chukwunonso Tristan Madueke Carney Chibueze Chukwuemeka

Chelsea vs Everton

21:34

Palmer is the first Chelsea player to score four goals in a Premier League game since Frank Lampard vs Aston Villa in March 2010. The way he’s playing, you wouldn’t bet against him getting more.

Chelsea vs Everton

21:32

Madueke is left on the floor, but Chelsea don’t care as Jackson bursts forward with the ball. Chelsea have numbers forward, but a loose touch from Palmer takes the chance away from the hosts.

Chelsea vs Everton

21:30

WIDE! Caicedo steps in to stop Doucoure from winning the ball, but inadvertently sets up Beto as he races in behind. He snatches at his shot though, slicing it wide of the near top corner.

Chelsea vs Everton

21:28

It’s a really poor tackle from Keane as he stretches across Jackson and catches the forward on the ankle with his studs. He can have no complaints with that booking.

Chelsea vs Everton

21:25

Penalty Goal Cole Jermaine Palmer

Chelsea vs Everton

21:25

Palmer jarred his ankle during that move, but he’s now back on his feet and arguing with Madueke about the penalty. The winger wants to take it, but Palmer snatches it out of his hand. It doesn’t matter that he has a hat-trick – he wants more.

Chelsea vs Everton

21:24

PENALTY TO CHELSEA! Palmer is on the floor, but Chelsea play on when Madueke gets the ball. He dribbles his way into the box, only for Tarkowski to wipe him out. The referee points straight to the spot.

Chelsea vs Everton

21:22

CHANCE! Gusto pushes forward down the right once more, and he whips a brilliant cross onto the edge of the six-yard box. Pickford changes his mind about catching it and pushes it against Jackson’s legs, but another deflection off Patterson takes it out for a corner.

Chelsea vs Everton

21:19

Branthwaite is led straight down the tunnel by the physio, and Keane is brought on to replace him.

Chelsea vs Everton

21:19

There’s a problem for Branthwaite here, and it looks like he won’t be able to carry on, even after treatment. He’s walking straight off the pitch, and Dyche is being forced into another change.

Chelsea vs Everton

21:17

GREAT SAVE! Everton lose the ball high upfield, and it’s almost too easy for Chelsea, as Mudryk surges forward on the counter. He cuts inside from the left before teeing up Palmer, but his low, drilled shot is kept out by Pickford’s legs.

Chelsea vs Everton

21:14

Yellow Card James Alan Tarkowski

Chelsea vs Everton

21:13

Gallagher does well to stop Gomes’ run, but just as quickly, Mudryk loses out to McNeil. He slides it back into the substitute, who takes on the shot from the edge of the D, and a deflection takes it wide of the near post.

Chelsea vs Everton

21:10

Everton are enjoying their best spell of possession in the game here as they knock it around with ease. Mykolenko tries to thread it forward to Beto in the box, but he’s nudged off it by Chalobah.

Chelsea vs Everton

21:07

Everton get us back under way for the second half!

Chelsea vs Everton

21:07

Substitution Amadou Ba Zeund Georges Mvom Onana André Filipe Tavares Gomes

Chelsea vs Everton

21:07

Substitution Séamus Coleman Nathan Kenneth Patterson

Chelsea vs Everton

21:03

Dyche was a frustrated figure on the touchline, and his side struggled with any sort of cohesion in defence. They showed flashes of what they could do upfront, creating an xG of 1.18 from their four shots, but his main priority will be avoiding a heavy thrashing. Pochettino couldn’t have asked for more – his side managed an xG of 1.4, but were clinical, scoring with four of their five shots on target. He’ll be urging his side for more of the same.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:57

Palmer’s perfect hat-trick means Chelsea are cruising at the break with a 4-0 lead over Everton. He got the match ball for himself after just 29 minutes – he scored his first after a skilful build-up was curled into the bottom corner before heading in his second just five minutes later. The third was a gift as he intercepted a poor clearance by Pickford and chipped the keeper from just outside the centre-circle into the empty net. Beto had a goal ruled out for offside before Jackson put more daylight between the sides with a wonderful volley. After a dominant first half, it’s no surprise that the live win probability gives Chelsea a 99.8 per cent chance of winning, with that extra 0.2 per cent Everton’s chance of a draw.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:51

HALF-TIME: CHELSEA 4-0 EVERTON.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:51

WIDE! Another corner is swung deep into the box for Everton, and Onana rises above Mudryk at the far post to meet it. He nods it down into the ground, and his shot bounces wide of the target.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:50

Dyche is not happy on the sidelines, even as Branthwaite intercepts a pass to set Everton on the counter. Doucoure turns straight into trouble though, and more groans ring out from the away end.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:48

The Chelsea fans are enjoying themselves here, and when it’s knocked back to Pickford, they taunt him about his earlier mistake. The keeper clears his lines easily this time, but the hosts quickly win it back anyway.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:46

Assist Marc Cucurella Saseta

Chelsea vs Everton

20:45

Goal Nicolas Jackson

Chelsea vs Everton

20:45

SAVE! It’s a lovely throughball from McNeil to cut open Chelsea and set up Beto, who may have drifted offside again. It didn’t matter though as he scuffed his shot straight into Petrovic’s gloves.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:45

There’s a lot of pushing and shoving in Chelsea’s box as Everton wait to take their corner, and the referee has to step in to break things up. When McNeil does swing it in, his cross clears everyone, and Caicedo clears on the far side.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:43

CHANCE! McNeil lifts a free-kick into the far post, and Tarkowski outmuscles Palmer to square it across the face of goal. Beto is waiting for a tap-in on the far side, but Chalobah gets enough on it to send it out for a corner.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:42

Mudryk clips the back of Coleman’s heels to stop his run and is the first Chelsea player into the book.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:41

There are some shouts from the home fans for a penalty as Jackson goes down after a shove in the back from Branthwaite. There’s not a lot in it though, and the referee says no spot-kick.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:41

It’s neat footwork from Jackson as he skips away from two challenges before laying it off to Caicedo. When the Everton players drop off, he decides to have a go but fires well wide of the near post.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:37

Yellow Card Ashley Simon Young

Chelsea vs Everton

20:37

NO GOAL! It’s a wonderful cross from Young on the right as he curls it into the edge of the six-yard box, and Beto thumps his header past a stretching Petrovic into the back of the net. Everton’s joy is cut short though as the offside flag denies the striker.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:37

Despite scoring a hat-trick for the second home game in a row, Pochettino pulls Palmer across to give him some more instructions. It’s the quickest-ever hat-trick scored for Chelsea in the Premier League (29 minutes).

Chelsea vs Everton

20:35

Everton are starting to push forward with more intent, and McNeil is finding space down the left. He clips a good cross into the near post, but as Beto peeled away to the far post, it’s another easy clearance for the hosts.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:33

Garner intercepts Petrovic’s clearance, but unlike Palmer at the other end, Everton can’t make anything of it. When Gusto neatly breaks up the attack, McNeil shoves him down in frustration.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:30

Goal Cole Jermaine Palmer

Chelsea vs Everton

20:29

Garner hasn’t been able to get up to speed yet, and he slides in late on Palmer, getting nowhere near the ball. He earns the first booking of the game.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:28

Garner is caught on the ball by Gallagher, and Chelsea have another chance to counter. Despite having support on either side, Jackson decides to try his luck with a long-range shot, and he fires it well wide.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:25

With his early brace here, Palmer has become the first-ever Chelsea player to score in seven successive Premier League appearances at Stamford Bridge. In that run of games, he’s been directly involved in 13 goals (11 goals, two assists).

Chelsea vs Everton

20:24

It’s better from Everton here as McNeil’s latest cross is deflected out for a corner. Petrovic flaps at the set-piece when it’s swung in, but luckily for him, Silva makes a commanding clearance.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:22

Everton just can’t get a touch on the ball at the moment, and they look like they’re chasing shadows as Chelsea knock it around with ease. The Blues’ confidence is high, and this could end up being a long game for the visitors…

Chelsea vs Everton

20:19

Goal Cole Jermaine Palmer

Chelsea vs Everton

20:19

Caicedo has the Everton backline scrambling again as he drives through the middle, and Branthwaite takes no chances by bringing him down. Chelsea take the free-kick short, but can’t make anything of it.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:18

GREAT CHANCE! Everton are all over the place as Madueke bundles it forward down the left, and he draws Pickford to the ball before chipping a cross over him. It’s just behind Palmer though, and it bounces away off his back.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:14

Assist Nicolas Jackson

Chelsea vs Everton

20:14

There’s almost a nervy moment at the back for Chelsea as it looks like Petrovic doesn’t get enough on the pass to Gusto. McNeil is closing in on him, but the right-back just does enough to stop him from getting the ball.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:12

WHAT A CHANCE! Gusto is caught on the ball, and Garner quickly helps to switch it out to Coleman on the far side. He plays a one-two with Doucoure before fizzing a dangerous cross into the six-yard box. Beto meets it, but blazes his first-time shot over the bar.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:10

It’s been an open start to the game so far, and Everton are on the attack again. Chelsea look a little bemused as a corner is given off Gusto, but the Toffees can’t make anything of the set-piece.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:08

Madueke has started the game brightly, but he holds onto the ball too long when it’s played to him on the right of the box. He’s forced to the byline when Mykolenko slides in, and the youngster’s pullback is behind Palmer.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:06

Everton win a free-kick of their own on the right, and it’s a dangerous delivery from McNeil into the far post. Tarkowski is closest to it, but under pressure from Silva, he can’t poke the ball towards goal.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:04

Chelsea make a quick start to the game as Palmer races through a gap in Everton’s midfield before trying to switch it out to Mudryk. The pass into him is too heavy, but he manages to win a free-kick, which Palmer curls straight out of play.

Chelsea vs Everton

20:01

Palmer gets the game under way for Chelsea!

Chelsea vs Everton

20:01

The teams are out on the pitch now, with kick-off just moments away!

Chelsea vs Everton

19:57

There are also two changes by Sean Dyche from their win over Burnley last time out. Onana comes straight back into the starting line-up, making his 50th Premier League start, with Beto also being brought in. Garner has recovered from a knock to retain his place. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has scored in their last two games, is missing with a hamstring injury. Gomes drops to the bench, where Danjuma is also named after a long injury lay-off.

Chelsea vs Everton

19:57

Mauricio Pochettino makes just two changes to the side that drew with Sheffield United last Sunday. Gusto returns after illness, while Mudryk also comes in, meaning a deeper role for Gallagher today. Alex Disasi and Enzo Fernandez are both missing through injury, but Chilwell is back on the bench for the Blues.

Chelsea vs Everton

19:41

Everton come into today sitting just two points clear of Luton Town in the relegation zone, but a win, which would complete a league double over Chelsea for the first time since 1978-79, would move them up to 30 points. They ended a 13-game run without a win last time out as they edged past fellow relegation battlers Burnley 1-0. The Toffees are unbeaten in their last two matches, but the last time they won away from home in the league was all the way back in December.

Chelsea vs Everton

19:36

It’s been an up-and-down season for Chelsea so far, but with eight games still to go, the Blues are still in with a chance of booking a European spot for next campaign. They have lost just one of their last 11 matches in all competitions (W6 D4), and in the Premier League, they’re unbeaten in their last seven outings, though they did drop points to bottom club Sheffield United in a 2-2 draw last time out. Their home record against Everton is strong though, as they are unbeaten in 28 Premier League games against the Toffees (W15 D3) since a 1-0 defeat in November 1994.
