Manchester United are one of a host of top European clubs linked with Gambian sensation Adama Bojang and could sign him for just €5m ‘in the next 10 days’.
The 19-year-old has been a prolific goalscorer for Gambian side Steve Biko FC and has caught the eye of a number of footballing giants both in England and Germany through his performances.
Sky Germany expert Philipp Hinze has tipped Bojang, who has been dubbed ‘the Gambian hurricane’, for great things.
He said: “There are already some top African strikers, but Bojang should really be written down. He can get really interesting.”
In an interview with Sky Germany, Bojang’s agent Sacha Empacher predictably bigged up his client, claiming he has the ability to thrive like some of the vert best African players of all time.
He said: “Adama is the best African player I’ve seen in the last decade. He has the potential to become one of Africa’s great forwards. Along with Drogba, Eto’o, Salah and Osimhen.”
That report by Sky Germany (via Sport Witness) claimed ‘Bojang should be transferred to Europe in the next 10 to 14 days’ for a fee of €5m.
Manchester United are one of the clubs linked, and with Erik ten Hag keen to add a striker to his ranks this summer on what looks likely to be a limited budget they could turn to Bojang.
Liverpool and Newcastle have also been credited with interest in the teenager, along with RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt, while an unnamed Bundesliga club have already made an offer.
Despite his impressive displays at club level, he stock has risen most significantly through his performances for the Gambian U20 side.
A hat-trick against South Sudan and a semi-final goal against Nigeria at the Afcon U20 Championships in April was followed up by further impressive displays in the U20 World Cup in Argentina.
Speaking after becoming the first Gambian to score a hat-trick in a CAF tournament at the start of March, Bojang said: “I feel so excited to score a hat-trick; these are my first goals in this tournament.
“Coming to his tournament and showing my talent to Africa and the world, and having a hat-trick for my country as a youngster, is so amazing.”
