Man City injury update: Josko Gvardiol, Ederson and Kyle Walker latest news and return dates

Manchester City picked up a new injury worry in their weekend win over Crystal Palace.

Real Madrid are next up for the Champions League holders, who were able to rest Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva from their starting line-up in south London.

Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland returned to the XI but Pep Guardiola had to withdraw Josko Gvardiol at the half-time break.

The Croatian defender joins Kyle Walker and Nathan Ake in the treatment room with Ederson nearing his comeback.

Here is your latest update of Man City injury news and return dates…

Josko Gvardiol

City started with Gvardiol at left-back in the Palace win yet he was taken off at half-time, which was initially thought to be for tactical reasons or due to his yellow card.

However, both Guardiola and Rico Lewis mentioned an issue for the defender in their post-match duties.

The Spanish coach labelled it a “little problem” which, pending a further update, may not keep Gvardiol out of the Madrid trip.

Potential return date: Tuesday April 9, vs Real Madrid

Ederson

Guardiola said last week that Ederson was doing “much better” after a short lay-off with a knock picked up in the draw at Liverpool last month.

The Brazilian did return to the squad on the weekend but was only on the bench, suggesting he is not yet fully up to speed while Stefan Ortega has impressed in his absence.

“I have to think about it, because Ederson feels really good,” Guardiola said. “I have to decide, but we are really pleased with Stefan. He’s an exceptional keeper.”

Kyle Walker

England defender Walker picked up a leg muscle injury in the recent international break and has not played since.

City are reportedly hopeful that he may yet make the Real clash, and he is said to be likely to return soon if that game comes too soon.

Potential return date: April 2024

Nathan Ake

City lost Ake to a calf injury in the recent draw with Arsenal and he sat out the Palace win.

Guardiola is yet to set out a timeframe for his return.
