Analysis: Crystal Palace 1-1 Brighton

BBC Sport, Joe Rindl

Roberto De Zerbi’s side have won just two of their past 12 league matches and now gone a club-record 22 successive league games without keeping a clean sheet.

Individual errors cost Brighton again, as they so often have done this season.

Crystal Palace’s goal came from a mistake. Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen gifted Michael Olise possession and the forward’s long cross found Jordan Ayew who finished at the back post.

“We concede another bad goal and we can play better and we can’t lose the ball in that way,” De Zerbi told Sky Sports. “We have to accept the policy of the club is to play with many young players.

“With the young players you have to give them time to make mistakes.”

There are positives the Seagulls can take from fixture. They have now won 13 points from losing positions in the Premier League this season, only Liverpool (18) have recovered more.

Indeed, the visitors almost took a late lead in bizarre circumstances when Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson punched a cross against the head of Danny Welbeck and was fortunate to see the ball bounce wide.

Brighton do make mistakes, but, importantly, they recover from them well.
