Ethan Pinnock: Brentford condemn ‘cowardly’ racist abuse towards defender

Ethan Pinnock has made nine appearances for Brentford this season

Brentford say they condemn “cowardly” racist abuse sent to defender Ethan Pinnock on Instagram on Saturday.

A statement from Brentford said: “When can we expect social media companies to fully use their resources and technology to provide us with the safer online experience many of us want?”

The Bees added that they have opened an investigation.

“Racial discrimination is a stain on our sport and society and we will continue to fight against it,” the statement read.

“We have initiated an investigation and will be seeking the support of the police and [Instagram owner] Meta to identify the perpetrator and hold them accountable.

“Ethan has our full support at this time.”

BBC Sport has approached Meta for comment.

Jamaican centre back Pinnock, 30, has made 136 Brentford appearances since joining the club in 2019 and signed a new four-year-deal earlier this year.
