The summer transfer window is closed for the major leagues in Europe. However, with an eye on January, there’s plenty of gossip swirling about who’s moving where. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!
TOP STORY: Mudryk eyed by Arsenal, Man City, PSG
Arsenal, Manchester City, Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain are all in the mix for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhailo Mudryk, but the Ukrainian club are demanding €100 million for the highly regarded winger’s transfer, according to The Athletic.
Brentford, Everton and Bayer Leverkusen made approaches to sign the 21-year-old Ukraine international during the summer, but he is now being linked with larger clubs.
Mudryk has five goals and six assists in 10 Ukrainian Premier League matches this season, while he has also stood out in the Champions League. The winger has been one of the tournament’s breakout players with three goals and two assists despite his side finishing third in Group F.
Shakhtar director of football Dario Srna has argued that Mudryk is only behind PSG’s Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior in his position. Srna references Manchester United’s moves for Antony and Jadon Sancho, who were €95m and €85m respectively, as well as Manchester City’s €110m deal to sign Jack Grealish.
While Mudryk’s transfer would not be cheap, there is certainly plenty of interest in the winger.

18.16 GMT: Leicester City are quietly confident that they can persuade midfielder Youri Tielemans to sign a contract with the club, reports the Mail, with the 25-year-old Belgium international’s existing deal expiring this summer. 17.43 GMT: The New York Red Bulls are finalising a deal to sign free agent forward Cory Burke on a two-year deal with a club option for 2025, reports MLSsoccer.com. The 30-year-old Jamaica international has played his entire five-year MLS career with the Philadelphia Union, who declined his contract option for 2023, after Burke scored eight goals in 37 appearances in 2022.
17.10 GMT: Clubs from Serie A, Ligue 1 and the Premier League want to sign Lorient striker Terem Moffi, according to Ekrem Konur. The 23-year-old Nigeria international has been in impressive form this season, scoring 10 goals in 14 appearances in the French first division.
16.35 GMT: Many headlines of late have linked Mason Mount with an exit from Stamford Bridge as negotiations with Chelsea over a new contract drag on, but the Athletic reports that a breakthrough has been made that will likely see the 23-year-old England international commit his long-term future to the west London club. The report stresses that nothing is finalised, but notes that this is the closest the two parties have been yet in their talks, and that Mount could sign a new contract when they resume negotiations in January.
15.58 GMT: While it’s been reported recently that AC Milan are working to bring Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar to Serie A, Calciomercato writes it’s another Italian club who’s leading the race, and that’s AS Roma. The Giallorossi have already held negotiations with both Lyon and the 24-year-old’s representatives and are in pole position for his signature, however, the report notes that neither Milan nor Roma could compete with the wages available in the Premier League, should an English side enter the frame.
15.21 GMT: La Repubblica reports that Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has a frosty relationship with new Blues boss Graham Potter, and that strain could see the World Cup winner with France leave the west London club, with his contract set to expire in the summer. Juventus and Inter Milan are said to be interested in the injury-plagued 31-year-old, and while they could sign him as a free agent at the end of the season, they’ll reportedly need to pay a transfer fee of £18m to take him away from Stamford Bridge in January.
14.44 GMT: Villarreal are monitoring Riqui Puig‘s progress in Major League Soccer with an eye on bringing him back to Spain, according to Diario Sport.
Puig, 23, left Barcelona for LA Galaxy in the summer and has impressed in the United States so far, scoring three goals and providing five assists in just 12 appearances. His performances have not gone unnoticed back in Spain, with Villarreal reported to be the club most interested at this stage.
Villarreal recently appointed Quique Setien as their new coach. Setien was briefly in charge of Barca during 2020 and, during that time, he gave regular minutes to Puig.
Barca allowed Puig to join LA Galaxy on a free transfer in August but they will be entitled to 50% of any future fee if he moves on again. They also have an option to re-sign him.

Sporting stars have their say on the Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo debate in ESPN’s You Have To Answer.
13.17 GMT: Fulham, Bayer Leverkusen and Villarreal are interested in signing Arsenal defender Cedric Soares in January, sources have told ESPN’s James Olley.
The 31-year-old has started just one match this season after being pushed down the pecking order by Ben White‘s conversion to right-back and the signing of Takehiro Tomiyasu.
Sources said Cedric is focused on re-establishing himself with the Gunners but would listen to offers if manager Mikel Arteta indicated he was no longer part of his plans.
Fulham are believed to be leading the race at this stage although no formal offer has been submitted yet. Any potential move would likely be a loan with an option or obligation to sign him permanently.
12.48 GMT: Sevilla sporting director Monchi hopes to convince Memphis Depay to join the club from Barcelona in January, according to Diario Sport .
Sevilla have reportedly targeted the Barca forward as the man to breathe life into their flagging attack as they look to pull clear from the relegation zone. Sevilla go into the World Cup break in the bottom three in LaLiga and have scored just 13 goals in their 14 matches.
Memphis, who is currently focused on the World Cup with Netherlands, is the fifth-choice forward at Barcelona, behind Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati, Raphinha and Ferran Torres.
The former Lyon and Manchester United attacker is out of contract at the end of the season and Sevilla hope Barca would let him leave for free to save on his salary given their financial problems.
12.15 GMT: Barcelona are keeping tabs on young Arsenal midfielder Charlie Patino, who is out of contract in the summer, according to Diario Sport.
Patino, 19, is highly rated at Arsenal and scored on his first team debut last December. He is currently on loan at Championship side Blackpool, was born in England and has represented the England at U20 level, but is also eligible to play for Spain on his father’s side of the family.
Sport reports that Barca have shown an interest in him due to his contract situation at the Emirates. His current deal, signed in 2020, expires at the end of the season and he will be able to leave as a free agent — although Arsenal would be due a development fee — if he does not renew.
11.32 GMT: Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones is set to sign a new contract, says The Times.
Jones, 21, has a deal which currently runs until 2025, but he will be rewarded with a new deal despite injury restricting him to only seven appearances this season.

10.56 GMT: Manchester City have denied Cristiano Ronaldo‘s account of his proposed move to the Etihad Stadium with sources telling ESPN that the striker’s claim that the move was “close” is false.
Ronaldo joined Manchester United for a second spell after leaving Juventus in 2021 but not before speculation linking the Portugal international with a move to City.
The 37-year-old claimed in an interview that the transfer was “close” but City sources have insisted his comments are “not reflective” of their interest at the time which has been described as “mild.”
Ronaldo claims only Sir Alex Ferguson’s intervention stopped him from joining City, despite his highly successful first spell at rivals United between 2003 and 2009.
Rob Dawson explains the feeling around Manchester United after Cristiano Ronaldo’s explosive interview.
10.41 GMT: The A-Leagues are preparing an unlikely bid to lure Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo to Australia, chief executive Danny Townsend said.
Sources have told ESPN’s Rob Dawson that United boss Erik ten Hag believes he cannot work with Ronaldo again after the striker said he “doesn’t respect” the Dutch manager.
Australian Professional Leagues CEO Townsend said he had contacted Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes with an audacious bid to lure him to Australia, where his grandparents live.
Ronaldo’s former United and Portugal teammate Nani plays for Melbourne Victory but Townsend said he had not yet floated the possibility of a reunion.
“We haven’t been in Nani’s ear but we’ve certainly registered our interest in bringing [Ronaldo] to Australia,” Townsend told SportFM. “It’s obviously a long shot but we certainly have a proposition here in Australia for him to consider.
“We’re in dialogue and we’ll see where that goes.”
09.57 GMT: Palmeiras forward Endrick and his family will travel to Madrid at the end of this month to start talks with Real Madrid, according to UOL.
The 16-year-old Brazilian sensation is also a target of top European clubs including Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, but Real Madrid are reportedly the player’s preferred choice.
Endrick is under contract with Palmeiras until the summer of 2025 and has a €60m release clause. The trip to the Spanish capital will allow Endrick and his family to visit Madrid’s training facilities at Valdebebas, and the Bernabeu stadium, as well as discuss the player’s potential future at the club.
Real Madrid’s chief scout, Juni Calafat, who was responsible for negotiating the signings of Vinicius Jr. from Flamengo and Rodrygo from Santos, will then travel to Brazil to accelerate negotiations.
Calafat has known Endrick’s father, Douglas Ramos, for some time. And, with Madrid having already made contact with Endrick’s family, it is likely that in the coming weeks will make an official offer to the club.
Real Madrid’s intentions are to reach an agreement with Palmeiras to secure Endrick in 2024, when the striker turns 18 and is allowed to leave Brazil.
09.23 GMT: Luis Suarez has turned down an offer to join Brazilian club Gremio in the winter transfer window. The Uruguay forward is planning to play next in the MLS, according to Gremio president Alberto Guerra.
Guerra, who was recently elected president of Gremio, confirmed that Suarez, who played his last game for Nacional earlier this month after scoring eight goals in 14 games for the Uruguayan champions, has rejected their lucrative offer.
“A signed proposal was made [to him] and conditional on us winning [the club presidential elections],” Guerra said of his club’s offer to Suarez. “It was rejected by him, he thanked us for thinking about him and because it was a serious (offer) but that his plan is to play in the MLS. Our offer was even more than what he will get in the MLS. But he has a life project.”
The former Liverpool and Barcelona forward is expected to decide his future after he competes for Uruguay at the World Cup in Qatar. According to Globo, Los Angeles could be Suarez’s next destination while Inter Miami are also reportedly trying to sign the veteran forward.
08.39 GMT: AC Milan are prepared to offer Algeria attacking midfielder Ismael Bennacer a five-year contract extension, Sky Italia reports.
The 24-year-old, who has made 21 appearances across all competitions for the Rossoneri this season and is a key player for coach Stefano Pioli, becomes a free agent in June 2024.
Milan are ready to reward Bennacer with a long-term contract that will see the player earn €3m per season.
Manchester United has removed a giant Cristiano Ronaldo mural outside Old Trafford after a fiery interview.
08.00 GMT: Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo said he was close to signing for bitter rivals Manchester City last year but former manager Alex Ferguson asked him not to.
Ronaldo said Ferguson persuaded him to re-join United for a second spell at Old Trafford when he moved from Juventus in August, 2021 on a two-year deal, returning to the club where he won eight major trophies from 2003-2009.
“Well, honestly, it was close… It’s something they spoke [about] a lot and [Manchester City manager Pep] Guardiola said two weeks ago, I guess, that they tried hard to have me,” Ronaldo told Piers Morgan in an interview for TalkTV, the first part of which was aired on Wednesday. “But as you know, as my history [was] in Manchester United, your heart, your feeling… make the difference. And of course, as well, Sir Alex Ferguson.
“I was surprised… But it was a conscious decision. Because the heart speaks, speaking loud in that moment.”
Adding that Ferguson’s intervention helped him make up his mind to join United, Ronaldo said: “I think it was the key. It was the difference in that moment, but I cannot be loyal if I will, I wouldn’t say that Manchester City wasn’t close.
“I spoke with him [Ferguson]… He said to me that, ‘It’s impossible for you to come to Manchester City.’ And I say, ‘OK, Boss’. So I took the decisions and… it was a good decision.”

The renewals are seen as a priority for the club, and Bennacer is expected to agree on a five-year deal worth just over a net €3m-per-season. While no meetings will take place regarding Leao in the coming days, there will be phone calls with the Portugal international’s agent with Milan hoping they won’t need to offer anything above a net €6m-per-year.
– Arsenal and Real Madrid scouts watched Mauricio during Internacional’s 3-0 win against Palmeiras, according to Ekrem Konur. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder scored the opening goal just 11 minutes into the game and was eventually taken off in the 72nd minute.
