Carolina Core FC falls at New England


Apr. 1—FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Carolina Core FC lost 2-1 against New England Revolution II in MLS NEXT Pro soccer Sunday at Gillette Stadium.

Pachittoo Polanco scored his second goal of the season, netting a shot from just outside the penalty area in the 37th minute. Facundo Canete had the assist for the Foxes (0-1-2).

New England, which had scored in the third minute to grab the early lead, netted the go-ahead goal in the 58th minute.

“We did a better job than last week, coming to compete and play hard,” CCFC coach Roy Lassiter said in a release. “Revolution II are a good side, and I think we looked mature at times in the game. Our main downfall came down to making sure that we defended the goal.”

Alex Sutton made two saves in goal for the Foxes, travel to Vermont Green FC in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. and will be available to stream live on the U.S. Open Cup website.
