A former manager at the Wichita Falls Country Club has been arrested and charged with embezzling more than $46,000 from the private club.

According to an arrest affidavit, Oscar Gene Martinez is accused of stealing  money between Dec. 1, 2019 and August 10, 2022.

A former manager at the Wichita Falls Country Club has been charged with embezzling thousands of dollars from the organization.

The affidavit said Wichita Falls Police were alerted to the crime by the club’s business manager.

The reports allege a pattern of theft that included altered deposit receipts that showed less money than was actually received by the club. Police interviews revealed that Martinez was the only person responsible for the receipts.

Also, the affidavit claims Martinez admitted the theft, citing personal hardships as the reason for it.

The theft charges are a third-degree felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Martinez was jailed Thursday and released the same day on a $25,000 bond.
